What is Personal & Companion Care

Personal & Companion Care is a service that allows consumers who may be experiencing difficulties with daily activities, to stay in their home. Personal Care Aids provide in- home services that include homemaking, companion care or live-in care.

Homemaking

Homemaking includes assistance with daily living such as light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, meal preparation, medication reminders, and running errands.

Companion Care

Companion care includes assistance on social outings, recreational activities, reading to, and conversing with the customer. Companion care may also include sitting with a customer and providing emotional support.

Overnight/Live-In Care

Overnight/Live-In care provides a Personal Care Aid to assist you 24/7. This care is typically a combination of homemaking and companion care. On some cases, the customers have the same Personal Care Aid givers for a 24/7 period and provide a place to sleep. Customer may have the same Personal Care Aid several days in a row, if the Aid is allowed to sleep at night while on duty.

What to expect

A Supervisor will conduct a short in-home assessment to see what the needs will be for care. It is important to be honest as any assistance needed is not too much to ask. This will ensure full support where needed.

  • The Supervisor may ask the customer to perform some activities in-home to evaluate the need for additional assistance. This will ensure the customers safety.

  • Hours and scheduling will be discussed. If there are any Personal Care Aid preferences, let the Supervisor know at the assessment.

  • Payment options will be discussed. Forms will be reviewed and signed such as a Consent form and Consumer Rights which will ensure you know what your rights are in regards to home care.

  • Post visit the Supervisor will create a Plan of Care specific to the customers needs.

  • Pam Health at Home will update the customer on the care scheduling and the Personal Care Aid selected. A brief bio and photo of the Personal Care Aid will be provided.
